Displaying source code Can't Post

Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find it on a search.

My website uses htmlArea as part of a simple CMS. When writing programming tutorials for the site, I often need to present source code in my content. If writing HTML freehand, I'd normally use the <code> tag for this.

I'm getting peculiar results trying to do this with htmlArea, and always end up having to edit the code manually - is there a workaround, config change or something that I've missed?

TIA

If it's a whitespace issue, you could try using the <pre> tag to preserve any preceding space and tabs.

Re: [Theo] Displaying source code [In reply to] Can't Post

The problem seems to occur when trying to display (eg) PHP code, the closing tag is changed from ?> to ?&gt; and isn't interpreted by the PHP parser

Using <PRE> doesn't improve matters

Any suggestions?

Hm, sorry MW. Sounds like the version you're working with has some bugs with handling of special character entities. I haven't had this problem with any of the version 2 or 3 editors I've worked with.

Maybe the developer of your version can give you some tips, otherwise you might need to find an active WYSIWYG editor with better handling of special characters.
