external css final solution (no clean / dissapearing html) Can't Post

ok so many people are having a problem getting their external css into htmlarea (so that it looks the same as what you have actually designed) that i had to post an easy fast solution

1.open your htmlarea.js file, and find this line (line 94)

// if true then HTMLArea will retrieve the full HTML, starting with the
// <HTML> tag.
this.fullPage = false;

2. simply change the value here to true like this:

// if true then HTMLArea will retrieve the full HTML, starting with the
// <HTML> tag.
this.fullPage = true;

3. save and upload your changed htmlarea.js file

4. now goto your site and in your editor (htmlarea) change / toggle to code view, you will see the following new code added to the top:

<html><head></head>

5. simply insert your link to your css like this (between the head tags):

<html><head><link rel="stylesheet" href="link-to-your css.css" /></head>

6. save the change in the normal way and it will now look exactly as u designed!!! (the external css you created is now linked)

I know that this means you have to do this for every page of your site that uses htmlarea but hey it works, its easy, and i managed to do it and im not even a coder!

I would like to thank whoever originally posted the this.fullPage = true; hint as this is what was deleting the css link previously on save

now you can use divs with css attributes, background colours, whatever you like and it will always look right

if you have any problems with this at all make sure your using firefox (pc or mac)
