Since htmlArea has been discontinued, what WYSIWYG editor would you developers recommend as a good quick replacment? (Yes I know there are rating on WYSIWYG editors on this site, I wan't their opinion). /Larssson

Why don't try the editors yourself? It won't cost you much time... You can see very quickly which editor supports your user need. Secondly, are you looking for a opensource editor or a commercial one?

There are 67 editors in the "database"... I didn't find a way to order by rating? Also, I would like to hear their recommendation, from a "developers" point of view perhaps? Im looking for a free (GPL/LGPL?) Open Source editor that atleast has some development going on.

fck looks good yes, but if you want a QUICK replacement take a look at xinha: http://www.htmlarea.com/directory/Detailed/123.html its based on htmlarea so basically you only have to replace htmlarea with xinha :D

Ive tested FCKEditor, had huge problems getting it to work as I wanted. What about this tinymce? http://www.htmlarea.com/directory/Detailed/79.html Seems to be rather new, but very very active.

Have you managed to get the view source feature? Looks broken in the latest build.

I don't use that feature myself, but it seems fine on their example page.

Well I have Firefox 1.0.2 and it's functioning fine for me. Try disabling any extensions you have, I heard someone getting weird problems with some extensions.

Hey Larssson... How did you integrate TinyMCE to the interface template??? I have been trying but it just doesn't work. I think TinyMCE looks good in their example pages and I really need to get it up soon. Can you post which areas/files you had to modify and what you replaced them with? I would really appreciate it...

We have our own CMS, so the integration for us was quite smooth, we removed HTMLArea and just adjusted the pages to simple form pages then applied TinyMCE. Took a while to figure out the tinyMCE.triggerSave() function if you submit the form with Javascript, but they patched that in last version I believe. If you have any problems, check their forums, quite easy to get help, we are even using their imagemanager now
