HTML Area, Accessible? Can't Post

It seems that when im using html are, it uses upper case tags such as <BR>. This is causing problems with the site validation for accessibility, is there an deasy way to change this?

I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any javascript-based XHTML compliant editor components. As far as I know, the only editor that touts compliance is XStandard:
