Webstationone editor - Link problem

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Webstationone editor - Link problem Can't Post

I've been working with this version of the editor (Luis') and have encountered a problem with adding a hyperlink. If I add a normal http:// link, it returns in the code - <A HREF="../../cnn.com/">. All the other protocols seem to work fine. Has anyone seen this and found a workaround?

Another issue with the hyperlinker that I noticed is that you get an error if trying to press "enter", instead of clicking "OK".

I had the same Problem.

Search:

"this.RelativePaths=1;"

and replace it with:

"this.RelativePaths=0;"

in the editor.js

I use the standard "Create Link" Version from Htmlarea. It works fine, but you can't open the Link
in various Targets...

Re: [barcsdad] Webstationone editor - Link problem [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi barcsdad:

It's not an error at all, but a missing routine to determine the location of your editor in relation to your site's root, which I'm working out yet.

In function cleanHTML, below this.Relativepaths, there are some blocks of code that begin LB1= , LB2= etc, etc, which are to replace the name of the directories with ../. Each block corresponds to each directory from your sites root to your editor. You should comment out the blocks that don't apply in your case.

For example if the page that contains your textarea is in

http://yoursite.com/anydirectory/mytextarea.html, it is analogous to

http://yoursite.com/LB1/mytextarea.html, therefore you should comment out the three remaining blocks, in both editor.js and insert_link.html

I hope this helps.

Luis,

I now have the "path" issue resolved thanks to Miquele and you. I think you might have been confused (or not) in regards to the "error" that I was receiving. It was being generated when I would press the "enter" key to close out of the the link editor popup, not having anything to do with the path problem. The javascript error reads:

Line: 271
Char: 34
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: http://mysite.com/htmlarea/insert_link.html

I noticed that this same error will occur with your version at webstationone. I would assume its just a small bug with the keystrokes code?

Hi barcsdad:

You are right. It's an error in the keystrokes function while copying the snippet.

Try changing

if (window.event.keyCode == 13){returnFile();} with

if (window.event.keyCode == 13){returnSelected();}

Greetings.

Anchor problem Edit | Delete | Quote | Reply

I have a problem with the anchor link. I use luis latest version off the insert_link.html

When I add #top it became this
<A
href="http://80.126.33.220/ezcontbeta/admin/m_contentform.php?ezSID=81325b3df264fdf1cbcd418fe214a778&amp;ContentName=test&amp;page=&amp;sort=1#top">test</A>

When I change it manually it saves alright with php

How to stop this behaviour ? I saw in luis editor that he has solved this.

This doesn't work :)

Also in editor.js there is no reference of the LB1= , LB2 ect. I looked at your example js but also no LB1= , LB2

Hi Chet:
In function cleanHTML(unclean);

line 2045 if (RelativePaths)to
line -2075

LB1 = is in line 2054

If you don't have this lines you don't have the last zip I posted.

You are right you are stupid. You have in your editor features that I have not made available. Only what is in my zip is being shared.

You have forced me to take my sample down. Look for help somewhere else. I don't help unloyal people who are not only taking without giving but even worse, stealing code. Just let me remember you that software is copyrighted and protected by law.

I have the right to decide what to share and what to keep for my personal use.

To everybody else, I will re-post my sample editor as soon as I encrypt it and will keep posting what I decide to share.

Re: [Luis] Webstationone editor - Link problem [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sorry if I did something wrong. That is defintily not my intention.

Perhaps you should have explained on your example site that only the zip is available for users. Many times you posted a message that some problems in your editor were solved but you did not have the time yet to make it available so that's why I looked in the source.

That I'm not giving to this forum is because I'm not a javascript goeroe. I do a lot of helping on opensource software since 8 years. Right now I'm trying to get the htmlarea working for all people in the opensource software EZcontens http://www.ezcontents.org/forum/ and many other opensource software. I also made a lot of free software in my life so please don't call me stupid or a thief.
I do understand your frustration because it happens to me all the time: That I give and do not receive and people will only complain and never say thank you.

Perhaps it is time for all of us to think about forum-etiquette ?

Again I'm sorry.

Re: [chet] Webstationone editor - Link problem [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Chet:

I want to apologize for being so rude. I think I over-reacted. Please excuse me if I offended you.

Regarding downloading code from any other mediums (crawlers, robots, code retrievers, etc) is a very bad practice. Besides legal issues, the main reason to being so upset is because my editor includes features I've been paid to develop, so I cannot give them away, at least not yet. Another reason is that some other features are not completely finished, therefore they are likely to be buggy and consequently, I'm receiving complaints about those bugs. Now, I understand it's all my fault for leaving the door open and that's why I'll encrypt it.

Regarding giving without taking, you don't need to be an expert to lend somebody a hand. Let me tell you that before HTMLarea, I had never wrote a single line in javascript. HTMLArea and my commitment to provide support to whoever needs it, is what has made me learn a little bit more everyday. Behind you there are hundreds of new users pulling their hair with issues you have already solved, then it's time to give back.

I don't expect to receive flowers or kisses. I don't expect even a thank you note. The only I expect -not only from you-, but from anybody else in the forum is just to confirm if a suggestion from me or from anybody else worked for him/her, so everybody reading the post can take advantage of that suggestion with the conviction that it'll work.

Once again, I apologize if I made you to feel offended.

Per your original question, at top of function cleanHTML(unclean), change
this.RelativePaths=0; for this.RelativePaths=1;

This should make the trick.

Greetings.

Luis,

This is off-topic from this thread, but I figured you might be able to respond to it since my separate thread received no replies. Here it is:

For the "clean on paste" Word cleaner function to work (and maybe some others as well), what are the IE requirements? I thought that it was 5.5+, but it seems that on a lot of 5.5 browsers I've tried it on, it doesn't work. Any thoughts?

Hi brcsdad:

It works on IE 5.5. Perhaps the problem is not related to the IE version but to WOrd's version.
Could you send me a Word document from your version to see what is wrong?

Luis,

Attached is a text document with the cleaning results from two different browsers. Also attached it the Word doc it was copied from. The differences are subtle (I probably should have used a more "intense" Word doc), but there are a few differences. Both Word versions were 2002 (service packs may possibly be different), and browsers were 5.5 & 6. Let me know if you want my .js file. Thanks for taking a look.
