MS Word Clean Up

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

MS Word Clean Up Can't Post

Hi - It's me again.

I'm still waiting for replies to my earlier post but have another question.

This time its regarding the clean up of the "gobbldy gook" that comes with any text that is copied and pasted from MS Word. I have looked thru the forum and seen several references to a MS Word paste detection routine.

Does anyone know where I can find this as it doesn't appear to be included in the copy of the editor.js file that I donwloaded yesterday.

Thanks again,

Abi

Thx Luis -

btw - does your editor.js contain a routine for capturing the plain text version of formatted text in the htmlArea?

Re: [Luis] MS Word Clean Up [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been having problems with quotes coming from word and other characters.

Your Word CleanUp handles most issues, but seems to have problems with the following :

This is some “tricky text” which can’t seem to be rendered by HTMLArea.

Even ellipses, like … has problems.

Any workarounds that people know of?
