problem using the style dropdown

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

problem using the style dropdown Can't Post

Hi

I was wondering if anybody could tell me if there is a way to do this:

Editor loads a blank page - user selects a style from the dropdown box - user starts typing in the editor with that style set?

When i try this it always types with the default browser font, is there anyway around this?

Many thanks in advance

Dan

Re: [2e1fmo] problem using the style dropdown [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi 2w1fmo:

Simple answer: It's not possible.

Most elaborate answer: Because there is not a text range and of course there is not a parent element. Only execCommand functions are possible under similar circumstances and fontstyles is not an execCommand Function.

Greetings.
