The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Does your version exists for PHP as well ?

If not, I know PHP and ASP are very much alike. Do you think it is possible to 'translate' into PHP and what might the pitfalls be if I'd give it a try ?

Re: [ColdRain] [On Request] Htmlarea Redspider [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi ColdRain

Only the example.asp page and the image palette are in ASP.

The example page you can simple rename to example.shtml the only thing why i named it .asp is because i use a server-side include for the editor. shtml also allow you to include a SSI.

For the image palette there are good alternatives in this forum, so i think the post from Dsearles is a good alternative for the ASP palette. For the PHP image Manager see posting http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/forum.cgi?post=6391

Hope my answer can help you

Hi RedSpider,

Man, you and Basmul have done an excellent job!

I only have one small question:

When i start typin in the editor, the default font = verdana 10 pt. after typing the first line, pressing the enter key, the line i typed returns to font size 8 pt.

Nathan

Hi mcguiness74

The form editor is Basmuls work so i don't deserve credits for that. Wink

You are right for the font issue, i've played with a stylesheet and the default font size there is 11px.
So it's smaller than the 10pt.

I will remove it Smile

Hi,

Just uploaded a new zip with a updated version of the Horizontal Rule add-on.

Thanks to Lvni900 you can now also edit existing horizontal rules.

See the demo or download the zip-file see: http://www.tielt.be/testzone/Example.asp

Redspider

It is a great editor, with rhe modifications you mede.
Still I have some question,
What and where do I have to change in the program to get the following result:

1- I set an anchor, then I make a link in the same page to the anchor, but I do'nt want the whole url adres I need only <a href=#anchorname>

Maybe you can give me a clou for this problem

Thanks

wilgen,

I don't realy get your point, but just wanted to inform you of the fact that I made a change to the bookmark/insert link section so you kan define a bookmark (use any text you like for the name) and then when you create a link and define it as an anchor you get a list of bookmarks in a dropdown to select from.

I uploaded this little mod to redspider.

bye
Bas

Oeps sorry after rereading your post it looks to me you mean the fact that it gives an absolute path/link instead of relative. (This is tandard IE behaviour becoz the insert anchor just returns #anchor).

Re: [basmul] [On Request] Htmlarea Redspider [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

Think Basmul is right with the IE behaviour. I work with a replace function in ASP like this:
strInhoud = replace(strInhoud, "http://Redspider/htmlarea/", "")

I just test Basmul's modification for the anchor add-on on my local server. Must say it's great.
I try to include it in my online version and download today (my family need's also some attention Wink)

Re: [basmul] [On Request] Htmlarea Redspider [In reply to] Can't Post

Basmul/Redspider

I try to explain it again:

I put an anchor <a name = test ></a>

Than I make a link to that anchor #test I do that with the link button and I select anchor, I type behind the # the name test.

When I click on ok and I have a look in the editor with HTML than get I a link <a href="http://www.mysite/example.html#test>test</a> because I use Article Manager and now I get every time a link to the <a href=http://"www.mysite.com/artman/exec/admin.cgi#test>test</a>, what means that every time the login screen opens.

And what I need is a link <a href=#test>test</a> ,than it goes in the page to the anchor test.

I hope that you do'nt mind asking for a solution for my problem.

My thankx

Ruud Wilgenkamp

Re: [mixmuis] [On Request] Htmlarea Redspider [In reply to] Can't Post

Hallo Mixmuis,

I've downloaded your php version of red spiders html area. Looks cool! But I was wondering about a couple of things: (you might as well call it struggling Tongue)
  • In the popup directory there are 3 php docs. Two are 'actual code' and the other one is a configuration. Where are the asp docs in popup/upload directory for? Aren't there php docs included for uploading?
  • Another question is about the config.inc.php:
// IMAGE_DIR and IMAGE_URL identify the Image directory "root" (MUST end in "/")
define("IMAGE_DIR", "/web/htmlarea_redspider_latest/popups/pictures");
define("IMAGE_URL", "/pictures/");

// SCRIPT_DIR and SCRIPT_URL identify where these scripts reside (MUST end in "/")
define("SCRIPT_DIR", "/web/htmlarea_redspider_latest/popups/");
define("SCRIPT_URL", "/popups/");

I'm confused what directory I'm supposed to fill in here. Do I need to put the directory-url like I would when I'm appoaching it by typing it in the addressbar? Or how?

Thanx a lot!

Hendricus

hallo,

the redspider version is great! i've seen in the editor.js some language version i.e.:
{lang: "en", name: "Normal"},
{lang: "d", name: "Normal"},
{lang: "f", name: "Normal"},
{lang: "nl", name: "Normaal"}]},

the default language is nl. how can i change the language? i dont find any parameter or setting for changing the language.

thanks!

Default from what ???

The default Lang is dutch because I translated all alt-tags and descriptions to dutch ;-)

I think this is hardcoded. The settings you see if for the "formatblocks" there Lnvi900 looks to te default lang. of IE

Hi Floris:

I have a work around on this. It's easy, only that implementation may vary depending of the updates you have done to your editor. As I cannot figure it out it's hard to give you instructions. I think it would be easier if you send me a copy of your editor, with the full url to your Textarea page in the message. I'll gladly make the changes for you.

Greetings

I'm using the editor.js from redspider, I did not change anything in the editor.js only disabled some functions in the "this.toolbar", that I did not wanted to use.

If you have a work around that will anchor link display like this <a href=#test>test</a> I will be very happy :-)

Re: [Floris] [On Request] Htmlarea Redspider [In reply to] Can't Post

Here it is:

this at the end of the script

function cleanHTML(unclean)
{
unclean = unclean.replace(/http\:\/\/www\.youreditorsdomain\.com\/test\/htmlarea\/popups\/fullscreen\.html\?Body/gi, 'http\:\/\/youreditorsdomain\.com\/test\/htmlarea\/index2\.html');

unclean = unclean.replace(/http\:\/\/www\.youreditorsdomain\.com\/test\/htmlarea\/index2\.html/gi, '');

return unclean;
}

Eeach block in blue must be a single line, no wrapping).
Change the url to match your textarea's page

then, in function editor_updateOutput(objname)
change the line in red:

// get contents of edit field
var contents;
if (isTextarea) { contents = editor_obj.value; }
else { contents = editdoc.body.innerHTML; }
contents = cleanHTML(contents);

Then search for this block and make the changes in red.

// Switch to TEXTEDIT mode
//

if (mode == "textedit" || editor_obj.tagName.toLowerCase() == 'iframe') {
config.mode = "textedit";
var editdoc = editor_obj.contentWindow.document;
// inserted by lvn
// show table borders
nullBorders(editdoc,'hide');
// end insert by lvn
var contents = cleanHTML(editdoc.body.createTextRange().htmlText);

And that's all.
Greetings.
