Dynamic CSS Plugin (HTMLArea CVS)

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

this is a mozilla security restriction. css from different domain can't access via JavaScript.

when css is on the same domain it works in IE,Mozilla and Firefox(0.9.1)

hello folks!
i've got a solution for this problem: read the remote stylesheet with the following code-snippet into a javascript string variable (PHP) (you have to pass the $myCSSString variable through e.g. a template engine to your js var)

$myCSSString = str_replace("\n", "",  implode(" ", file("")));

now the DynamicCSS plugin can parse the stylesheet. thanks for this great plugin! Smile

Re: [t0mmy] Dynamic CSS Plugin (HTMLArea CVS) [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't get DynamicCSS to work.

I'm using Firefox 1.0PR ane IE6, HTMLArea 3.0RC1 and the latest version of DynamicCSS.

I load the example file. In it, in the toolbar I can see a combo box but it only shows "Default" and "Undefined".

Can someone show me a working online demo? Or direct me to the right way?

This editor has the potential of being truly great, but for me good CSS support is a must.

Thanks in advance.

Re: [hhees] Dynamic CSS Plugin (HTMLArea CVS) [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm trying to use this plugin (v1.5.2) with cvs htmlArea (v1.95) but I get an error (line 33 'DynamicCSS is undefined').

This is my code:

<html><head><title>Test.jsp - HTMLEditor V3.0</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

<STYLE TYPE="text/css">
.headtext { font-size:10pt;font-weight:bold; }
TD, DIV {font:9pt Verdana,Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;}
body {
background-color: #C8D7DD;
margin-left: 10px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 10px;
margin-bottom: 10px;

<script type="text/javascript">
_editor_url = "/portal/editor3/";
_editor_lang = "it";

<!-- load the main HTMLArea files -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="htmlarea.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">
HTMLArea.onload = initDocument;

function initDocument() {
// create a new configuration object having all the default values
var editor = new HTMLArea("editor");
editor.config.pageStyle = "@import url(dynamic.css);";
editor.config.height = '550px';
editor.config.toolbar = [
['cut', 'copy', 'paste', 'separator',
'undo', 'redo', 'separator',
'formatblock', 'separator',
'bold', 'italic', 'separator',
'inserthorizontalrule', 'orderedlist', 'unorderedlist', 'separator',
'createlink', 'separator',
'htmlmode', 'separator',

I have the proper lang file in place, so this is not the problem: what am I missing?

Re: [archimede] Dynamic CSS Plugin (HTMLArea CVS) [In reply to] Can't Post

I installed this plugin with HTMLArea 3.0 RC1. When I generate my textarea, the CSS combobox has only a Default value. How can I load my ccs styles in the combobox?

This is my code (my application is in c#):

function initDocument() {
var editor = new HTMLArea("txtBody");
editor.config.pageStyle = "@import url(ccs/back.css);";
editor.config.toolbar = [
[ "bold", "italic", "underline", "separator", "justifyleft", "justifycenter",
"justifyright", "justifyfull", "separator", "inserthorizontalrule",
"createlink", "separator"],
[ "copy", "cut", "paste", "separator", "insertorderedlist",
"insertunorderedlist", "outdent", "indent", "separator", "subscript",
"superscript", "separator", "inserttable", "htmlmode"] ];
editor.generate(); }

What I'm missing?

Thanks in avance

Re: [durtal] Dynamic CSS Plugin (HTMLArea CVS) [In reply to] Can't Post

I was my fault, I found the error in my import line. I replaced ccs with css and it works now.

By the way, I would like to know if is possible to load classes for links. I have some classes definied for links like A.Menu:link, A.Menu:visited which are not loaded in the combobox.

Thanks in advance

Re: [hhees] Dynamic CSS Plugin (HTMLArea CVS) [In reply to] Can't Post

This is a great plugin. A big help to me, thanks. I'm getting some problems with ease of use, though. I want to get rid of the Font Type and Size capabilities altogether. I got rid of the tools by configing the toolbar, so just my CSS dropdown is showing. The problem is, sometimes the editor will go into a font tag for whatever reason (it will display font down where you can select p, body, etc). When it does that, the CSS selector stops functioning. Is there any way to keep it from starting any font tag at all? It's just not very user-friendly, as I will have to delete the text and start over. Any suggestions?

Only default and undefined CSS [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there,

Has anyone found a solution to the CSS styles not populating the drop down box? I have the same problem and am desperate to fix it... I only have default and undefined available and yet all the formatting from my style sheet is appearing in the editor

Re: [rachael] Only default and undefined CSS [In reply to] Can't Post

Try using the 1.75 release of htmlarea - you can just cut and paste the all of the following over the original htmlarea.js you were using. I was using v.1.59, which is the one linked to from the main site. I tried the latest (1.9something) and that didn't work at all, so I'm now using 1.75 and it works a treat.

I was getting exactly what you're describing, using Firefox 1.0 preview release on Linux Mandrake (it wasn't loading in the stylesheet using the example that came with DynamicCSS), just saying 'undefined' and 'default'. Now it works perfectly! Thanks very much, this is just what I needed!
