CharacterMap (HTMLArea CVS) - Backport from HTMLArea XTD

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

They say it's very easy, but i can't get it to work...

If i just install the .tar-file in the HTMLArea folder .. and startup de character_map.html i get an error:
"HTMLArea.l18N.tooltip" is null or not an object.

I tried to move functions to the htmlarea.js file, i tried to move files to other folders .. and changed things in the code, but, still not working!

What simple thing am i doing wrong? :S

you must get the 2 folders (example & plugins) from inside the CharacterMap folder and put it into the htmlarea main folder which contains also an example and plugins folder.

I started over again and restored all original htmlArea v.30-files... (since i changed some of them), and installed the CharacterMap again, so now it is:

HTMLArea v3.0 (all standard HTMLArea-files)
\examples (character_map.html)
\images (all htmlArea images)
\lang (all htmlArea Languages)
\plugins
\plugins\CharacterMap (character-map.js)
\plugins\CharacterMap\img (ed_charmap.gif)
\plugins\CharacterMap\lang (de.js, en.js)
\plugins\CharacterMap\popups (select_character.html)
\plugins\OtherPlugins....
\popups

But still get the same error...

I see now that all spaces in my last post were removed, so i edited that post. Hope it's clear now how my folder-structure is... And i think it's right on this way...

But, still the same error...

Yes big props for novokain ,but many of us are not able to get this thing to work

everything is fine ,except all the popups!

you cant insert images,tables,change color,

and no mather how many of us post this question on all mambo forums noone not even novokain has an answer to it.

When we hit insert image,or insert table button all we see is a small let say 3x3 inch box that apears in the left hand corner

just like it does want to open the popup but it stops in the middle.

Now when you wide thi box out you see server error page

path problem right ?but where???????

The editor ask you if your files are in the sub dir so what else should i change??
