Insert File and File Manager

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Insert File and File Manager Can't Post

Hi,

I've finished the new htmlarea3 version - as plugin.
http://alrashid.klokan.sk/insFile/htmlareademo/

What's new:
  1. Correct handling for filenames containing odd characters (lettres with accents, apostrophes and quotes as well)
  2. multiple folders/files select (use Ctrl & Shift) and operations for:
    • select&insert
    • delete
    • move
    • rename
    • open in new browser window
    • maybe copy
  3. possibility to resize dialog window to make the content fit into
  4. persistant sorting
  5. custom format of inserted link
  6. fixed bugs, but new ones have been introduced ;(

P.S.

I'm just leaving for looong vacation so no further development nor bug fixing during next six or seven weeks. If someone does feel he could make the plugin better, fix bugs, translate or just write a howto do not hesitate to do so. As far as I don't have much time right now, I would really appreciate if someone could help me with development. Probably creating and assigning the project on sourceforge.net would be a good starting point. Any volunteer?

Al

I've found a bug- if the focus isn't on the htmlArea at the time, it'll insert the page link on the actual web page itself, rather than in the area- I'm guessing this can be fixed relatively easily by using Javascript focus() stuff, but I'm not experienced enough to go delving into the code myself!

Thanks for this great extension. My goodness - installation took 10 minutes, and I'm gonna be loved for this new feature :)

One little thing though: The german language file is incomplete. It misses things like translations for "ok" and so on. Attached is a completed file with my translations.

Re: [AlRashid] Insert File and File Manager [In reply to] Can't Post

this is great plugin, thank you.

my bit of a problem is the link of the attached file is missing my path defined in config ($MY_URL_TO_OPEN_FILE), which is not my web root but a few subdirs in. If I set $MY_URL_TO_OPEN_FILE to my web root and then navigate to subdirs and attach file, it will work ok. But I dont want to give access to files other than in this special file dir.

anyone else have this problem? I will try to fix now.

thanks.

despite fact i didnt review all the code in this plugin, and dont know why this would fail, i just edited the config file to prelude with my path

Code

$MY_LINK_FORMAT = '<span class="filelink"><img src="_editor_urlplugins/InsertFile/IF_ICON" alt="IF_URL" border="0">&nbsp;<a href="<<<my chosen dir>>>IF_URL">IF_CAPTION</a>;<span style="font-size:70%">IF_SIZE &nbsp;IF_DATE</span></span>&nbsp;';

Edit "insert-file.js"

Underneath the line:

InsertFile.prototype.buttonPress = function(editor) {

Add:

editor.focusEditor();

Re: [AlRashid] Insert File and File Manager [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, maybe someone can help.

I am playing around with this plugin, trying to get familiar with code so I can help extend it.

I am having a problem getting the value of a selected file's extension via javascript. I see various bits of code to check the file extension in files.php and there is a js function in insert_file.php for doing a check for file uploads, but I cannot seem to pass a correct value through javascript to get the selected file's extension.

i thought maybe this would suffice:

Code
 var ext = checkExtension(name);

But it doesnt seem to work. I also tried fethching the value from php doing an echo of variable $ext re-using code in files.php and config.php.

Any suggestions?

thanks.

Hi sulleleven,

how are things developing with your MediaManager? Are you planning to release a preview or beta in the near future?

Thanks,
novocaine

Wow, this is a GREAT addon and took only a few seconds to add!

My only problem is when I insert a file with the tool it links to my base directory (www.mysite.com) and not the folder set in $MY_URL_TO_OPEN_FILE any ideas?

I am also missing the possibility to turn on/off the insertion of file-size, file-date, ...

Will this be back?
