Calculating Length of Text in HTMLArea

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Calculating Length of Text in HTMLArea Can't Post

Hi All ,

I am using HTML Area in one of the ASP form . The text (comments) which we entered in HTMLArea need to save in database with some max length validation like the comments can be of maximum 1000 characters long. I code it like

if len(document.frmcomment.txaASCom.value) > 1000 then
msgbox "Entered comments length is more than 1000 characters"
exit sub
end if

but document.frmcomment.txaASCom.value takes the HTML tags also like Bold etc at the time of saving .

Please suggest me the method which will tell me the length of the Text only which user entered (without formatting HTML tags ).

The solution is required urgently.Pls help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance.
