TEXT::ASPELL w/ Win32

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

The line must contain the TYPE command before the test file or no spell check will be done since the pipe (|) doesn't contain anything.

TYPE c:\aspell\bin\spell_635.txt | c:\Aspell\bin\a --add-filter=sgml --lang=en_US

the error message you get tell you that you don't have any en_US dictionnary installed
Did you install the english dictionnary available here
http://aspell.net/win32/ ?

Did you rename the aspell program? because here it was "aspell.exe" not "a"?

Re: [mlall] TEXT::ASPELL w/ Win32 [In reply to] Can't Post

i got the script running in a dos window (thanks by the way), but i still get the error:
Warning: shell_exec(): Unable to execute 'type D:\webserver\tempFolder\spe7E.tmp | c:\aspell.exe -a --mode=none --add-filter=sgml --lang=eng_US' in
D:\webserver\websites\classTrack\scripts\HTML\etc...

i think its a permission error, but i can't imagine what doesn't have permissions? i have given everyone full permissions in the temp folder, the aspell folder, the aspell.exe. am i missing something. i hate to be a pain in the butt, but i feel like i'm sooo close.

can you try to change the permission of the temp file (not the folder) by adding this function in the php script: http://us4.php.net/chmod it should be like that:
chmod ($temptext, 0777);
It's just to put everybody acces to the temp file also.

Can you also do this test to see if the shell_exec command works:

Code
<?php

print_r(shell_exec('dir'));

?>

Re: [Lyme] TEXT::ASPELL w/ Win32 [In reply to] Can't Post

Bill,

I am following your instructions. I have msvc7 and I have added the following:
@set PATH=...;C:\Program Files\Aspell\bin;
@set LIB=...;C:\aspell-0.50.4\lib
But I don't see an include directory that you mention. I am using 50.4 not 50.3.3. I added these to INCLUDE as a guess.
@set INCLUDE=...;C:\aspell-0.50.4\interfaces\cc;C:\aspell-0.50.4\common
but I get errors on the "nmake" step.

Please see attached for the "nmake" errors. I have tried searching for the functions it is complaining about but no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!
Jonathan
