Home: htmlArea 3 (beta): htmlArea 2 & 3 archive (read only): htmlArea v3.0 - Discussion:
'name' null or not an object

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

'name' null or not an object Can't Post

Anyone know the solution to this error

Line: 1196
Char: 5
Error: 'name' null or not an object
Code: 0
OS: win NT
Broswer: IE 5.5 sp2

I get this error when I click on the toggle source button or when I exit the page, but ONLY when I have text in the textarea.

The only modification I have made to the code is after line 392 I added: this._toolbar.style.width=iframe.style.width;

Here is the code that errors (HTMLArea.getHTML):

Code

var attrs = root.attributes;

for (i = 0; i < attrs.length; ++i) {

var a = attrs.item(i);

if (!a.specified) {

continue;

}

var name = a.name.toLowerCase();

if (name.substr(0, 4) == "_moz") { //<--Error Here

// Mozilla reports some special tags

// here; we don't need them.

continue;

}

Re: [doug] 'name' null or not an object [In reply to] Can't Post

may be something like this?

Code
  var name = a.name;

if (name != null && name.toLowerCase().substr(0, 4) == "_moz") {
// Mozilla reports some special tags

// here; we don't need them.

continue;

}
