Dynamic CSS

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Dynamic CSS Can't Post

I'm trying to integrate an existing CSS into HTMLArea v3 rc2b.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding how it works. My thought is that my styles will appear in the dropdown. When I try to turn on the plugin, nothing works.

Here's an excerpt from the page. What do I need to do to get my styles in the editor?

--------

... snip

<!-- load all the htmlarea stuff -->

<script type="text/javascript">
_editor_url = "/htmlarea/";
_editor_lang = "en";
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/htmlarea/htmlarea.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/htmlarea/dialog.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/htmlarea/lang/en.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("TableOperations");
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("SpellChecker");
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("FullPage");
HTMLArea.loadPlugin("CSS");
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("ContextMenu");
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("HtmlTidy");
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("ListType");
//HTMLArea.loadPlugin("CharacterMap");
HTMLArea.loadPlugin("DynamicCSS");
</script>
<SCRIPT language="JavaScript">
<!--
function my_htmlarea()
{
// var editor = new HTMLArea("editor");
// HTMLArea.config.pageStyle = "@import url(/dom.css);";
// HTMLArea.registerPlugin(DynamicCSS);
// editor.generate();

// uncommenting the above breaks everything

HTMLArea.replace("1");
HTMLArea.replace("2");
}
-->
</script>
</head>

.... snip ....
<tr>
<td width="13%">
<div align="right">Web HTML</div>
</td>
<td width="87%" bgcolor="#CCCCCC">
<textarea id="1" name="web_html" cols="100" rows="10"><? if ($article) echo stripslashes($article->web_html); ?></textarea>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="13%">
<div align="right">Sidebar HTML</div>
</td>
<td width="87%" bgcolor="#CCCCCC">
<textarea id="2" name="sidebar_html" cols="100" rows="10"><? if ($article) echo stripslashes($article->sidebar_html); ?></textarea>
</td>
</tr>

Re: [sstern] Dynamic CSS [In reply to] Can't Post

I use htmlarea in combination with typo3,
and there I found that I have two dropdown boxes for css styles:

- one for paragraphs
- one for text !?

I managed to populate the first dropdown box by including things like p.heading, p.subhead etc. in my stylesheet (so everything with p.xxxx)

I don't know how to populate and use the second one ...

Hope this helps

The style sheet is fixed; I can't change it to match the styles htmlarea is expecting.

Can anyone walk me through adding them to the drop down?

I must admit that i am puzzled too :
I see the css items named with p.xxxx in my stylesheet appear in the dropdown box when I use firefox, but not when I use IE !??
