htmlArea License Feedback

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

htmlArea License Feedback Can't Post

In our efforts to make htmlArea as open as possible we've based our license on the MIT open-source license. The only additional requirement we'd made is that users must not remove the "About this editor" button which pops up the about dialog page. This is basically just a button like this [ ? ] on the interface where you'll have other buttons for bold, italic, alignment, images, color, font, etc.

We want everybody to be able to make use of htmlArea, but we'd also like other users to be able to find out about it so they can come and download it as well. Having a single button on the interface that pops up an "About this editor" window seemed to be the most low-key way to do this.

Here's the license we're planning on using. Please let me know any comments or feedback you may have (good or bad).

Yep, can't see how anyone could have a problem with that!

Ben.
