Image Upload for htmlArea v2.03

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Re: [geroreilly] Image Upload for htmlArea v2.03 [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok, we are getting closer,

make sure error reporting is reporting everything,

Now, lets do some debugging, lets echo some things out, add the following in thumbs.php

About line 20, add
echo 'img:'.$img;

about line 58, add
echo 'file:'.$BASE_DIR.$path.$img_file;

about line 74, add
echo 'thumb'.$BASE_DIR.$thumb;

The problem is either in thumbs.php file or in NetPBM.php (or could be both, but less likely).

Lets see how that goes.

Cheers, Wei

Re: [wei] Image Upload for htmlArea v2.03 [In reply to] Can't Post

Wei,

I added those echos to the thumbs.php file and the following is the result:

img:/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/test1.jpgfile:/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/test1.jpgthumb/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/.test1.jpg
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /u/home/httpd/html/Templates/editor/popups/ImageManager/thumbs.php:20) in /u/home/httpd/html/Templates/editor/popups/ImageManager/thumbs.php on line 77

Looks like all the echos are correct.

The thumbsfile /u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/.test1.jpg is on the server but with 0 bytes.

Next plan? BTW, thanks for all this help - I would be lost without some guidance!

Re: [geroreilly] Image Upload for htmlArea v2.03 [In reply to] Can't Post

silly question, do you have sufficent disk space (may be disk quota problem) to create the files?

Next, uncomment line 219 in NetPBM.php

try to create the thumbnail, copy the echoed command and try to run it in your console (either telnet or ssh if the server is a remote machine). And see what happens.

Up to this point, we are getting nitty and gritty :)

Cheers Wei

Re: [wei] Image Upload for htmlArea v2.03 [In reply to] Can't Post

Wei,

NO problem with disk space.

I tried as you suggested with the following results. Looks like some of the calls to files in the /u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm directory are not executing correctly. The files are .exe files but the command never calls the .exe. I am also missing the ppmtojpeg file.

From my telnet session:

[root@katie pnm]# /u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/jpegtopnm /u/home/httpd/html/imag
es/uploads/general/test1.jpg|/u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/pnmscale -width 96 -he
ight 96|/u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/ppmtojpeg --quality=85>/u/home/httpd/html/i
mages/uploads/general/.test1.jpg##
bash: /u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/jpegtopnm: No such file or directory
bash: /u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/pnmscale: No such file or directory
bash: /u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/ppmtojpeg: No such file or directory
[root@katie pnm]# ls
bmptopnm.exe libjpeg.dll pngtopnm.exe pnmtopng.exe zlib.dll
giftopnm.exe libpng.dll pnmscale.exe ppmtobmp.exe
jpegtopnm.exe netpbm.dll pnmtojpeg.exe ppmtogif.exe
[root@katie pnm]#

From the browser:
img:/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/test1.jpgfile:/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/test1.jpg/u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/jpegtopnm /u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/test1.jpg|/u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/pnmscale -width 96 -height 96|/u/home/httpd/html/test/pnm/ppmtojpeg --quality=85>/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/.test1.jpg##thumb:/u/home/httpd/html/images/uploads/general/.test1.jpg
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /u/home/httpd/html/Templates/editor/popups/ImageManager/thumbs.php:20) in /u/home/httpd/html/Templates/editor/popups/ImageManager/thumbs.php on line 78

Looks like my configuration for NetPBM may not be right?!? But it worked OK for your previous version of the Image Manager? I have also tried to get it working with GD but no luck there either.

Have you any more suggestions..... thanks for bearing with me on the nitty gritty details!!!

Re: [geroreilly] Image Upload for htmlArea v2.03 [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok, you said you are running on a linux machine, executeable files on linux doesn't usually have .exe or .dll extensions (I was under the impression of you using windows from your first post, when you said .dll file). Executeable files for windows does not run in linux and vice versa.

If those files are indeed linux executeables, then you should remove the .exe and .dll extension (e.g. command line> mv jpegtopnm.exe jpegtopnm).

I have a hunch that those files are not linux executables. For linux binary executables, you may try the following link http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7130 and choose netpbm1.1-gallery1.0-linux2.2-redhat6.2-intel.tgz

Hope that helps,

Cheers, WEi

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Wei, that was the problem - my netpbm configuration was all wrong. I downloaded from the link you gave me and installed that version. And hey presto.... the thumbnails were created perfectly.

Thanks for all your help with this and for bearing with me all the time.... .much appreciated!! Now I can really start to use your ImageManager. Thanks again...... and have a great weekend!

I like the Image Manager/Upload addon very mutch, but have one problem with it.

If I open the Image Manager, and instead of inserting an image, I press Cancel. This gives we an error.

Error: 568
Object expected

Got any idea what the problem is?

Ok, NetPBM doesn't support that many formats, it says it support raster formats. But the script supports PNG, JPEG and GIF (the formats common for the web) and no others.

When you Ifran which format did you save it to (i don't think JPEG2000 is support by NetPBM)? Try to save it as PNG or Jpeg, or even GIF.

Imagemagick does support alot more formats, but again the script restricts the format to PNG, JPEG, GIF. I think those 3 formats are enough for the web. Well, I think most they are the most common formats.

Hope that helps.

Hello Wei,

I managed to modify your 2.03 version that seems to use Imagemanager of version 3 well.

Thanks for your reply

Did you modify the older version for 2.03 ?

If so, is it possible to download it somewhere ?

Thanks for your support
