Mp3/midi Music mods + video mod

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Mp3/midi Music mods + video mod Can't Post

Hi all

I have just written two new mods. One inserts midi background music to the file, the second inserts WAVE and MP3 files. New look as well.
The way these mods will work depends on the pluggins you are are using. I recommend quicktime 6 and real player

See them working here
http://www.college4vents.net/testhtmlarea/example.php?action=ajouter
Click on for background music, and on for Wave or Mp3 files.
Click on for videos or rm files

Allow a few seconds for file-loading.

Greetings

Hi:

When I try to go and view your version of the editor - I get a request to install FMV V5.0.

Can you explain what this is and why it is needed?

Thanks
Dumarest

Hi Dumarest,

EUREKA !!Forget what comes below. My second search was a lucky one

FMV stands for Full Motion Video. It is a video pluggin. I don't know it. You'll find more details here :
http://www.slipstream.dial.pipex.com/final.htm

But I should recommend that you use more standard pluggins such as Quick time (ideal for midi and MP3 and mov files, and real player one for rm files.

Greetings

I have no idea at all what that is. I personally use IE 6.0 with windows 98 and winXP. Everything works fine. In fact I use Luis's version of HtmlArea, to which I have added my own mods. Go to this URL and see if you get the same message (Luis's version)

http://www.webstationone.com/test/htmlarea/Editor/

For my mods, the only thing you need is to have is the required pluggins for medias : Real Player and quick time.
You will find, if interested, my new versions here :
http://www.interactivetools.com/iforum/Open_Source_C3/htmlArea_Add-Ons_F19/Insert-flash_mod_%3A_new_version_P19298/

Sorry I can't help more. I searched on Goggle but didn't get anything.
Have you got a Java machine installed ? You need to have one ! If needed go here

Re: [stervina] Mp3/midi Music mods + video mod [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi:

I am currently running the Quicktime plugin on Windows XP and IE6.0.2

I felt that it was something special ie: a plugin that your site was asking for and thus causing the error. I only get the request to load it when I go to your site or the one for Luis. I have NEVER seen this request before and I regularly look at video files.

Now I'm really confused.

Hi Dumarest

When do you get the request to install the pluggin ? Which icon generates the request ?

The Quicktime pluggin is OK for midi, wav, Mp3 files, and .mov videos, but I don't think it works with .rm files which require Real Player
My flash mod requires the flash pluggin of course.
You might as well try this.
On your computer, search for one of each above file. Right click and switch to "Always open with (either Quick time, or real player, or windows media player)" Quicktime suits best because it opens in the preview frame of my mod, whereas WMP opens in a popup).

Has anyone else experience the same problem ?

Greetings

Hi Stervina:

I am now running both Real One and QuickTime.

I still get the request for the FVM as soon as I go to your URL. I don't even get to see the page until I cancel the request for FVM at least three times.

Hi AGain:

You were right - some of my defaults did not point to RealOne or Quicktime - they pointed to WinAmp.

This may fix the problem..

Thanks

Hi:

OK - so now I get less requests to install FMV <grin>!

I fixed .mid, .wav, .mp3 and .rm

What else needs to point to RealPlayer or QuickTime?
Thanks
