The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Image Manager for 3.0 Alpha (PHP version) Can't Post

hi

Here is a another version the Image Manager for html area 3.0 alpha.

A few interesting notes,
  • the image dialog is a thumbnail view (like in windows XP),
  • the thumbnails are cached and/or generated on the fly
  • PHP version at the moment

It has only been tested on windows XP (i.e IE 6.0). I do not have mozilla installed. And I do not think it will work with mozilla as it the dialog utilises IFRAME.

Please let me know if you found any errors or problems.

Good one even with the bugs of the alpha version. It needs that extra GD library buddled wih PHP though to run. I don't have it installed.

Thanks for the ap!!!

Hello!

Good work.. i will use it. But there are some bugs when i use mozilla 1.3beta.

appearance is a little bit buggy and i am not able to add new folders. mozilla freezes. with ie6 all looks fine.

i attach the outputs from both browsers!

btw: would be nice if you appreciate the interest and work of interactive tools to make a crossbrowser solution Smile

bye

Thanks for testing.

Now that i have installed mozilla, I can see some bugs.

Yes, the create new folder is buggy in mozilla (something to do with dialogs I would guess). Will be fixing the cosmetics problems in mozilla shortly.

The thumbnail generation does use the GD library. I have another version which uses ImageMagick through the command line, I actually prefer this version as it generates better quality thumbnails.

Will post an update soon.

Still no solution to problems with mozilla opening a dialog within a dialog. Anyone have any ideas?

hmmm... do you use the same name for both windows? maybe this is a problem for mozilla? don't know.. the code is too complex for me to understand in a few minutes.

btw: one optical bug is left - have a look at "durchsuchen" - in german the word is too long and so the two buttons overlap (old picture from my first message).

The problem with creating new folder is fixed, it was the naming of the popup windows.

However, the layout problem with the "Browse" button is stranger, bit harder to figure out.

Will post an update soon.

Do you have a newsletter? Its just great, thanks for writing this PHP script!!

Dang, I have (probably simple) problems to get it to run:

--JS Error--(Internet Explorer 6)
Line: 11
Letter: 2
Error: 'document.getElementByID(...)' is Null/Zero or no object
Code: 0
URL ...../popups/insert_image.php

Unfortunaly I am a real looser with javascript ;-)
What am I doing wrong?

Ciao!

Hi Doug,

More information would be needed to determine the problem. May be a screen capture would help.

As a side, the script has been updated, fixed 'new folder' dialog problem in mozilla (it was a naming problem as noted by Qwertologe). Fixed some javascripting problems, I think, I only have IE6 and mozilla 1.3a to test with.

The script is now also available for HTMLArea 2.03.

Since I do not have the resources to testing on various browser, I would appricated if people could inform me of which browser it works and which does not.

The problem ended up beeing the action value of the form element. I changed it from action="image" to action="image.php" and everything worked great.

Hi

is there a possibility do define relative paths in both parameters?!

--------------------------------------------------------------

//the path where the browser sees the document root (i.e. http://www.yourdomain.com/)
$BASE_URL = '/';

//this is where the images will be stored relative to the $BASE_DIR (and $BASE_URL)
//this directory MUST be readable AND writable by the web server.
$BASE_ROOT = 'assets/images';

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Some how it doesn't work on win2000pro/iis5.0 if you define relative paths ?

Thanks for the great add-on ...

Hmmm, more problems with layouts, "browse" word is very long in your machine :) (german?), will try to fix it.

Yes, the paths can be all relative as long as the PHP scripts knows where the thumbs.php file is, and where is image directories are.

If you can give me an example, I can try to figure it out ;)

How can I get the ImageMagick thumb code?

Hi Doug

The link should be working once more. The ImageMagick thumbnail codes is downloadable from that page, if you have problems downloading it, I can email it to you.

Hi, i finaly got to try it on this PC with mozilla, and I attached a screenshot of what I will get as image browser :-( Its just a smal lbox with the derectorylist. Since I only have a flat dir right now, there are not many things I can do.
The problem accured with the Mozilla 1,3 beta, and also now with the 1,3 final, which I emidatly downloaded to check if the problem still exists.

Whats happening? Worked fine with IE6 :-/

Hi,

Yes, that does look strange, I will need more information on your browser details and OS. Most likely to be a problem with script resizing the windows. Will check it out soon.

That should be easy to do, please send me an email. Since it is PHP, use one of the PHP environment variable containing the host name to append to the image src when "OK" is clicked. This is to be done in the javascript in the "insert_image.php" file. Email me if you need more info.
