Link popup with TARGET option

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

ho?

AFAIK there is no good workaround out there, the one i found has the error, when you mark the text, and want to modify the link, only the text ist there.. not the link & the target.

There's one that it's working fine.

You have to copy this code to the editor.js and then copy the html file to the directory where you have your popup files.

You can find it were
http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgipost=4303;search_string=create%20link;#4303

If you have any problems tell me. Smile

Re: [lvni900] Href with target menu... [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok...

Here what you giong to do.
The 404 error appears when the browser didn't found the page you requested. So the problem is when you click on the link button, the page that you're calling doesn't exist or isn't in the right place.

STEP ONE:

Edit your editor.js file and search for: cmdID.toLowerCase() == 'createlink'

2 lines above that you'll find this: // insert link
a few lines down you'' find this: // insert image
delete everything between this lines and copy to that same place this:

Code
 // insert link (modified)
if (cmdID.toLowerCase() == 'createlink') {
if (editdoc.selection.createRange().text != "") {
var highlightedText = editdoc.selection.createRange().text;
}
else {
var highlightedText = "";
}
var myText = showModalDialog(_editor_url + "insert_hyperlink.html",
highlightedText, "target is new Window");
if (myText) { editor_insertHTML(objname, unescape( myText) ); }
} // insert image

STPE TWO:

Copy this attachemnt "insert_hyperlink.html" that you find in this post and save it in the same folder as the one where is the file editor.js.

Then you can tri it.

I know this mod..

but the thing why i donīt use it is simple:

if u mark a text, create a link, and later u want to modify the link, u mark the text, want to modify the link/target, but only the text is in the popup.. not the link and not the target, so u should write the URL and target new... :/

Yeah, you're quite right ATK. I do plan to change it allow you to modify an existing link, but for now it has that limitation. It's on my Big Ol' List o' Things To Do...

(man, this 'list' is getting longer and longer... ;-)

Hm, i think the idea from a user to setup a CVS for htmlarea or open a sourcefourge-project is more and more to come.. or?

I think if htmlarea is a source-forge project, and the hardsitting userīs in here will develope there, the project will be one of the best in the wysiwyg-scene.

Donīt think so to? :)

This project is realy great, but I think it's about time for someone to collect all mods into one JS file, or maybe one for ASP users, one for PHP users..... it begins to be too massy with all those mods

hm, good idea, problem is -> nobody needs them all :-).

I donīt need the wordfilter and so on, but coded a php-image-browserfunction (itīs similar to that were posted),and so on.

right now i work especially on the table-functions (i added height/bg-color to insert table, and now i want to modify them all :-) ).

Think itīs time for a CVS... but iīm not the "boss" :-).

As I've told about 5 other members of the forum (this is getting out of hand! :-), this week I'll talk over with Dave our options for documenting htmlArea add-ons.

Re: [david62] Href with target menu... [In reply to] Can't Post

hi,

this orning (according to my timezone) i posted a solution for this problem in a thread entitled link popup. it can be found here: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=7359;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
this is not the complete script but i gues if you know womething about scripting you can make it work. for me it is already working (i don't use the target option, however).

so, check it out and if you can, make a complete working version and share it...

thanx

Re: [david62] Href with target menu... [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this is moot at this point (it may well be!), but I've also finished a new link popup window, which allows you to edit an existing link. All aspects of the link (protocol, URL, link text and target value) are preserved when you edit it.

Rather than post the code (which is a little verbose), I'll just attach the editor.js and insert_link.html files. I believe I've weeded out all the bugs, but post me if you find any.

It's a nice script !

But allways the same problem. When you want modifie your link, with your script, you can see the target parameter but not the link ! And this is the most important.

It's not possible to have insert_link.html to make a new link and, when a text is selectionned, to have the standard box with the exec command ? I think it's a good alternative because you have more frequently a change of link, not a change of target. Usually you define your target link definitivelly !

Excuse me for my bad english !!!

Hi ayman,

I'm not quite following you... did you look at the demo? My popup has a field for all four link aspects: target, protocol, URL and link text. It think it does everything the default execCommand version does, only with a couple of extra features...

When you go to edit a link, you should see the link (URL & text link).

Ahhh...! Now I think I see what ayman means.

On the default popup, when you highlight code OUTSIDE of the link, but still have PART of the link highlighted, the link popup will still contain the link URL. Mine doesn't.

Poo.

Well spotted, ayman! Let me play around with it a bit further.

Re: [Benjamin] Href with target menu... [In reply to] Can't Post

ok, now i got a bit of a problem also. when you try to insert a link like ?page=43 it doesn't let you just add <a href="?page=43">blah</a> but instead gives you the full path of the editor and then ?page=43 as the href. this also applies to images - you have to give the full path and not just the image name with relevant directories. has anyone found a workaround for this or is it impossible with the current insert html function in editor.js?

I'm programming in PHP. My solution (not very good, but it's good enough for my purpose):

I've included this into the output of the page. (like UBB)

$text = ereg_replace('\<A href','<A target=_blank href', $text);
