Set to Very Restrictive when pasting from word?

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Set to Very Restrictive when pasting from word? Can't Post

Hi

I have an htmlArea with Luis' Word Cleaner installed. We have just started to export our data as XML and as such the htmlArea is causing all sorts of problems when we try to convert back to plain text.

The main problem is that when lots of lines only contain html (eg table tags, etc) then these get reduced to empty lines. Also text using <LI>Text</LI><LI>Text2</LI> ends up bad. So something like:

Code

<TABLE>
<TR><TD>
yadayada
</TD>
</TR>
</TABLE>

<LI>Text</LI><LI>Text2</LI>

ends up as:

\n

\n

tadatada

\n

\n

\n

TextText2

I think the best way to overcome this would be to allow ONLY the following tags (I have already done this in the editor, but need to catch when pasted)

B
I
U
FONT
HR
IMG
A

Hopefully when returning to plain txt that will solve a few things? Is this possible????

Hi BenSeb:

To take rid of the \n shouldn't be a problem. In editor.js, close to top, change:
this.replaceNextlines = 0; with this.replaceNextlines = 1;

Greetings

Don't give up!!
