Error: 204

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Error: 204 Can't Post

Hi all,

Got a problem with the table props (and also with the row and cell props. This is the same problem). When i want to change the height or width to pixels or percentage it gives and error.

With the table props it is error 204, with the Row props it is error 160 and with cell props error 183.

Has anyone solved this problem allready. I didn't find any solutions on the forum (Yet!)

ThX allready.

Re: [bramnaus] Error: 204 [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi bramnaus:

There are two bugs in the original tables mod.

The first one is when selecting px or % in the width pulldown of the dialog box. The fix needs to be done in the popup file. I don't remember exactly what to do, but you can take the updated files from my editor.(You can download it from the url below.)

The second one is that some table operations don't work locally. The fix is in editor.js. Search for all instances of setGlobalVar and getGlobalVar and copy them in place in your editor.js

greetings

ThX allready, but.... [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Luis,

ThX for your solution on the table, row and cel props. I just copied them and it all worked!! Wink

When i saw what great thing you put in your editor i wanted to adapt some. Some i allready implemented, but i got some troubles with the openword function.

When i try to open a Word doc i get a error in the openword.html. It says:

Error: 37
'Documents' is empty or not an object.

What did i do wrong?

Hi bramnaus:

It requires you to have ActiveX enable in your computer. Instructions on how to enable ActiveX are in the post #2 of this page:

Tried it, but [In reply to] Can't Post

It's stil not working. Even befor i tried, it looked to me that ActiveX wasn't the problem. I can enter a Word-file with the editor from the example. I will explane what steps i took to try implement the openword function:

Step 1:

I copied the file openword.html to my popups directory.

Step 2:

I opened editor.js and enter 3 sets of code:
- First i asigned a button in the toolbar like this ['print','preview','openword','separator'],
- Then i asigned the function openword to this.btnList.
"openword": ['OpenWord', 'Open een Word Document', 'editor_action(this.id)', 'ed_word.gif'],
- The last thing i did was asigning the code to open the openword-popup. I copied the code form your editor.js
else if (cmdID.toLowerCase() == 'openword') {
window.clipboardData.clearData();
editdoc.execCommand('SelectAll');
editdoc.execCommand('cut');
var myTitle = "";
var myText = showModalDialog(_editor_url + "popups/openword.html",myTitle,"resizable: yes; help: no; status: no; scroll: no; ");
if (myText) { editor_insertHTML(objname, unescape( myText) );
}
else {editdoc.execCommand('paste');}
myclean(editdoc);
editdoc.body.innerHTML = cleanHTML(editdoc.body.innerHTML);
}

These are the things i did to implement the open word function. I think i forgot something.

ThX for any help.

Hi bramnaus:

Everything seems to be right. Is there a url where I can see it working to try to reproduce myself what exactly is producing the error?

Re: [bramnaus] Try this link [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi bramnaus:

The problem is in your settings. I tested it in my computer and works well, although after inserting the Word document there are two errors more, because you have not enabled the two functions that are called at the end of the openword function:

function cleanHTML(unclean) and function myclean(editdoc)

The other reasons besides ActiveX settings for not having it working are that either you don't have Word 6+ installed or, most unlikely, but possible an old antivirus program which doesn't recognize windows scripting as valid and thinks it's a virus.

Try enabling other of the functions that use ActiveX (save to local disk). If it works, then the problem is in your Word version. If it doesn't, then the problem is in your settings.

Please let me know the results.

It can't be my settings [In reply to] Can't Post

It can't be my settings. Becaurse when i use your editor on my local machine the openword function does work. So it must be something in the code.

Ok. What else can I tell you?
In my side your code works form its own location. I only added your domain to the list of Trusted Sites and it worked. I'll send you later tonight a piece of code to detect if ActiveX and Word are enabled. Hopefully it helps you to convince the problem is not in the code.

Greetings.

Found it.. [In reply to] Can't Post

You had it right all the time. I checked my internet settings again, checked the code, and uninstalled my virusscanner (AVG) and it worked.

It's or my virusscanner or the fact that i may have forgotten a step in the browsers settings.

Muchos ThX!!!

PS.

Is there a way to by pass the Trusted Sites settings?

Re: [bramnaus] Found it.. [In reply to] Can't Post

Bingo! Good it worked.

I'm not sure. I think the only way is changing the Security settings to the lowest, but I would not recommend that. It would make your computer susceptible of being attacked and you would get tons of programs silently installed in your computer without you being aware of it. Last week I had to redo one of the computers at work because one of the employees changed the security settings.

Greetings.

Hi Luis,

You helped me half a year ago with your version of HtmlAea (Downloadeble at http://www.webstationone.com/test/htmlarea/). Maybe you can help me again with a problem i got.

I'm getting an error when i try to make a hyperlink. The link isn't correct. If i typ http:\\www.website.nl the editor makes it to ../../www.website.nl

I downloaded the latest editor and found the same problem. Is there a way to correct this.

ThX for any help.

Opening a worddocument [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Luis,

Just another question. Before i used your version of HtmlArea, I used standard HtmlArea version 2. This version already had an option to open/import a Worddocument. When doing so, it imported the text complete with layout.
In your version the layout dissapears. Is it possible to import a document with it's layout?

Greetings Bram

Re: [Luis] Found it.. [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Luis,

Once awhile i like to check you version of htmlArea at http://www.webstationone.com/test/htmlarea/index.html. I see that there are some new features at the 'insert image' option. (resize option, better file-layout, etc.) But when i download the latest version, it hasn't got the same features.

Is this new version not yet available for download? And if not, will it be in the future?

Thx for any help.

Hi bramnaus:

By the time being, only what is in the zip file is available. Some mods have been sponsored by one of our clients and I'm not allowed to share them yet. Perhaps in the future we'll convince him.

Greetings
