Netscape equivalent, or similar?

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Netscape equivalent, or similar? Can't Post

I am wondering if anyone has found/written a product similar to HTMLArea, but that works on Netscape (and browsers other than IE).

Even if it is more basic than HTMLArea.

Or, alternatively, if anyone has found/written a cross-platform HTML validator (it can be basic) to validate input to a form before writing it to, say, a guestbook.

Any help would be GREAT.

I've seen a few cross browser versions written in Java or as ActiveX components. But most of the require the user to install something, some don't work on Macs and none for free though.

As far as input validation. I'm not quite sure exactly what you're looking for but you might try a quick google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=javascript+input+validation
