The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

BRILLIANT!

Thats all I can say about this, it's really good, this was all I needed to finish my project. The last image uploader and browser I had didn't have a folder feature and needed to be configured each time it was used (i.e. in different locations/domains), I realise this one has to be configured as well by not with an absolute location.

One question though, what does 'Rinomina' mean in English, as I'm not sure what it actually does?!

Thanks for the code

Simon

So, I'm guessing that you can upload a picture and give it a different name, i.e. I could upload picture1.gif from my computer but name it picture2.gif?

Thanks,

Simon

Re: [recedo] Upload image in ASP [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes it's right but i discovered a very high security risk in function to name as and create folder function becouse it accept name like ../../myfolder or ../myfilename.exe, permitting to access file or folder outside the starting point

I have modified the code in a manner that when the form is submitted javascript functions check the name for illegal characters like / \ . ? * etc.

This check must be duplicated even in the asp script to prevent that the page was modified locally and posted to server script, or in alternative you must change the name of insert_image.html in something like insertimage.asp and make your server side check before render the page to the browser.

If you have knowledge of asp you can insert your own check routine.

I can send mine but first must retouch some little code to abstract some implicit reference to my server (added just for security reasons)

Ciao

Re: [misterxxi] Upload image in ASP [In reply to] Can't Post

If you could send that it would be great. Although it shouldn't be too much of a problem for what I am using it for at the moment, in the administration backend, so only admins/editors can get access to the page.

Also, you may want to consider a javascript that checks to make sure the folder name text box has something in it. If it is blank an ASP error comes up, not much of a problem though.

Thanks

I am really new to this and am not a programmer. I am working on a Memorial page (volunteer) for the Schnauzer Friends Rescue and Adoption and would love to have a copy of the scripts so that when people donate they can upload a picture of themselves or their pet to be viewed. Please send them to me.

Thank you.

If you look some messages above you can find the pack to download.

Some minimum knowledge of asp is required to correctly setup the scripts.

Hi misterxxi!

Where are your files? They seem to be perfect for my little CMS on www.seestatt.ch/pre. The Users need to change some text and uploade some images.

If i click on dsearles click here i get a "Permission Denied" Error!?!

Could you send the skripts to cthomann@iteconomy.ch? Thanks a lot!

Chris

Hello I have noticed that you renamed the image from original.
Have you this trouble only if rename the image or even if you upload image without renaming?

I think the problem might be related to character set (Unicode).

If this is you can look at the routines for uploading images. It is not mine (it is a freeware, look at the site for new release) as you can see in the source upload.inc.asp

Re: [string] Upload image in ASP [In reply to] Can't Post

As I say I think that this resides with the uploading process.

The routines used in the code is in upload.inc.asp it is a pure asp upload. It uses the post method with multipart/form-data.
I have seen in your snapshots that you are using eastern language and I think, but not sure that is the problem.

You can try to force to use different codepage in the page that manages the upload (upload.inc.asp) but I can help You becouse can't test in my systems. Try to find infos in the msdn site (msdn.microsoft.com) on how to force to use western codepage in asp pages.

HTH

P.S. Have You tried to open the image uploaded with a program such mspaint to clarify if the image is disrupted?

P.P.S http://www.pstruh.cz/dlldownload/pASPUpl3.zip this is a new release for the upload code I have not tested yet but fonded in the site of the programmer http://www.pstruh.cz/

Ciao

Re: [misterxxi] Upload image in ASP [In reply to] Can't Post

misterxxi,thanks!

Maybe these words can explain my puzzle(from upload.inc.asp):

'But there is a small problem - ASP does not allow save binary data to the disk.
' So you can use the upload for :
' 1. Upload small files to server-side disk (PureASP upload saves the data by FileSystem object)
' 2. Upload binary/text files of any size to server-side database (RS("BinField") = Upload("FormField").Value)

i have downloaded the code you mentioned, test it on my pc,and it can work,

but i don't know how to make it work with your code.

can you help me with it?

thanks!

Re: [string] Upload image in ASP [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok I have also downloaded the new version of pure asp upload and if that work on your PC this is a good news.

At this moment I have no time to review the program to use the new routine, it works for me as is. This can be later.

I think (and hope) that the work to do may be simple:
-----------------------------------------------------------
1) Include the new upload library (seems to be _upload.asp) in the file lister.asp (substitute upload.inc.asp)
2) modify the function uploadFile in lister.asp to use the new paradigm (see the examples you have downloaded from the site author of the library)
-----------------------------------------------------------

I don't know about your asp knowledge. But the things to try are not enough.

If you don't know anything of asp at latter time I can try to find time to test for You. Tell me.

contact me at this email address m.sbragi@nospace.net, becouse I don't check hotmail often.

Read You later

Ciao

I've found a little problem when you make a folder that exits (in ASP code) or the name folder is void, you need to verify if the folder exits before you create it.

I proved upload image and work fine its very good.

Thank you.
