dynamic resizable textarea

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

I am looking for the same thing, basically an equivalent of this functionality which works with regular TEXTAREA tags:

<textarea onpropertychange="if((event.propertyName == 'value') ) this.style.height=(this.scrollHeight);" name="WHATEVER">
Text here
</TEXTAREA>

Please let me know if anyone figures this out, a WYSIWYG editor isn't so WYSIWYG when you can only see a small portion of the page you're editing...

Here is a snippet I found that may be useful, can any of the kind InteractiveTools people tell me if I'm on the right track?

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function frm_onload(frmname)
{ frmname.frameElement.height = frmname.document.body.scrollHeight+20; }
</script>
And put the following in your IFrame tag:
onload="return frm_onload(frameid)"

Re: [cronomen] dynamic resizable textarea [In reply to] Can't Post

OK this seems to work as a replacement for line 681 in editor.js:
var RichEdit = '<iframe onload="return frm_onload(_' +objname+ '_editor)" src="' + _editor_url + 'popups/blank.html' + '" ID="_' +objname+ '_editor" style="width:' +editor_obj.style.width+ '; height:' +editor_obj.style.height+ ';"></iframe>';

you also have to add this little function anywhere:
function frm_onload(frmname)
{ frmname.frameElement.height = frmname.document.body.scrollHeight+20; }

So this is half the battle, this causes the iFrame to resize onLoad, now I have to figure out how to resize it dynamically as you type...
