<font color> tags on links

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

<font color> tags on links Can't Post

Hello,

When I copy and paste content that has links in it, into htmlArea2.03, extra font tags are insterted after the <a href> tag, this overrides the link color normally applied to the <a> tag

i get something like this:
here is some text <a href="mypage.html"><FONT COLOR="#000033">my link</FONT></a> blah blah

instead of this:
here is some text <a href="mypage.html">my link</a> blah blah

the font tags are not inthe original html code, and when i paste into another editor (such as dreamweaver) they do not appear.

does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Re: [loze] <font color> tags on links [In reply to] Can't Post

I was able to compromise and remove all font tags on paste, which is fine for the issue above.

but there is also something else that I would like to change, it is similar to the above
when I have a link, then select some text enclosing the <a> tags, then apply a font style to the selection, htmlArea puts font tags after the <a> tags

for instance:
With the string "here is some text my link click here blah blah blah blah"

1. I select "my link click here"
2. I create a link
3. I select "here is some text my link click here blah blah blah blah"
4. select a font class

and I get this:
<FONT class="myClass">here is some text <A href=""><FONT class="myClass">my link Click Here</FONT></A> blah blah blah blah</FONT>

Instead of:
<FONT class="myClass">here is some text <A href="">my link Click Here</A> blah blah blah blah</FONT>

Am I making sense? anyone have any Ideas?
