My other JavaScript crashes htmlArea

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

My other JavaScript crashes htmlArea Can't Post

I wanted to use a JavaScript navbar on the same site that I wanted to have htmlArea. They both work great independently but, if the navbar is on the htmlArea toolbars don't appear. If I comment out the navbar, the toolbars appear and work fine. Is this to be expected, is it a bug or am I nuts?

I doubt you are nuts. I seem to remember having the same problem with AllWebMenus (a javascript menu) and HTMLArea. I got rid of the menu!

Surely there's another solution. No?

Another kiind of Javascript menu? Not sure what other people think but I have heard of conflicts between javascripts especially where they are both complex in nature. I doubt that there is any workaround at the HTMLArea end.

Thanks for the reply. Atleast now I know that it's known to happen. Anyone else have any bright ideas? I'd appreciate it.

Any movement on this?
I need to be able to use client side scripts within HTMLArea :)

I have a similar issue and have been able to pinpoint the conflict, but i don't know how to fix it...

So hopefully someone will figure it out from the info I was able to provide at my post here:

Re: [zebedee] My other JavaScript crashes htmlArea [In reply to] Can't Post

I replied to zebedee's post, so you can look there for probable
causes as to your problem(s). Your mileage may vary.

I'm willing to help out now and then, but, at some point,
especially when the problem is fairly complex, I have no
interest in spending a lot of time on something that isn't
directly affecting me. Otherwise I can (usually) freely
share with others if/when I discover or create a solution.

I'm more willing to offer free services/work and/or
sharing of knowledge, etc., for "free" products like htmlArea,
et. al, being the community-minded person I am, however,
eventually (rather quickly) my "time is money" alarm goes
off and I'm off to more interesting, self-interested, and/or
lucrative endeavors. (hopefully) { and, aren't we all }

----------
I am usually who I say I am, rarely where I believe I am,
and more often than not, not what you think I am.
But keep trying. One of these days the twain may meet.
And then I'm sure we will both be surprised. Until then,
please attempt to disregard my obvious "lack of a life".
