Greek Letters

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Greek Letters Can't Post

Dear All.

Im using HTML Area for a small web form that chemist use to enter chemical information.
I created 5 new custom buttons for greek lettere alpha, beta, delta, gamma, chi.

I created the tag and it inserts the data α δ etc etc.

But when i save it to the database it comes back out as garbage.

Its an oracle database.

Does anyone know what happens behind the scenes with HTMLArea and why it would have problems with these characters?

Don't really know, but try replacing the ampersands with &. I don't know how Oracle works, but you'll probably then need to replace & with & when you pull the data back out. I don't know if that's it (in fact I kind of doubt it), but it's worth a shot.
