FF/MAC: Switching between WYSIWIG & HTML tag view causes loss of edits

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

FF/MAC: Switching between WYSIWIG & HTML tag view causes loss of edits Can't Post

(Using FireFox 1.0 on Mac OS X. HTMLarea is embedded in Drupal 4.5. See also http://drupal.org/node/11996. They believe this is an HTMLarea bug.)

Steps:

(1) Open a node for editing that brings up an HTMLarea.
(2) Make some edits.
(3) Click on the <> button to switch to raw HTML view.
(4) Make some edits.
(5) Switch back to WYSIWYG view.

Expected result:

Edits made at step (4) would be visible.

Actual result:

Only the edits made at step (2) are visible. Edits made while in raw HTML view are lost.

(Ugly) Workaround:

Save the node while still in raw HTML view.
