InsertAnchor CSS problem

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

InsertAnchor CSS problem Can't Post

Hi!

Here's my problem: when I insert a named anchor it looks something like this:

Code
<a id="test" class="anchor"></a>

Thats fine but htmlArea doesn't show anything on that spot (in WYSIWYG view ofcourse). The fine author of the InsertAnchor tried to tackle that problem with the following CSS:

Code
a.anchor {  width: 18px;  height: 18px;  background: url(img/insert-anchor.gif) no-repeat;  border: 1px dotted blue;}
/* For Gecko browsers we need the following code to make anchor visible */
a.anchor:before { content:url(img/placeholder.gif); }

I added that code to my pageStyle but I simply can't get the image to show up! The blue box is there, I can set the background-color but no image. [said]

This is really a CSS question but has anyone managed to do this?
I'm mostly interested in IE6 solutions, other browsers are not so important.

thanks,
Gordan

Re: [gordan] InsertAnchor CSS problem [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do,
but my guestimation is that you want this:

Code
<style>
a.anchor { width: 18px; height: 18px;
background: url(img/insert-anchor.gif) no-repeat;
border: 1px dotted blue; }
/* For Gecko browsers we need the following code to make anchor visible */
a.anchor:before { width: 18px; height: 18px;
content: url(img/insert-anchor.gif);
border: 1px dotted blue; }
</style>

The dotted blue border may not show exactly like IE, but close.
Works for me. You're mileage may vary.

I am usually who I say I am, rarely where I believe I am,
and more often than not, not what you think I am.
But keep trying. One of these days the twain may meet.
And then I'm sure we will both be surprised. Until then,
please attempt to disregard my obvious "lack of a life".
