Plugin for Special Characters

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Plugin for Special Characters Can't Post

As a new HTMLArea user, I am interested to know if there is a plugin that pops-up a display of special characters (prob. Unicode based) for selection and posting back to the form area being edited?

Thanks!

Yes. Get the current CVS build of HTMLArea to get it.

I'm still a new user - could you perhaps be a bit more specific here; what is the name of the plugin; how do I activate it; what features does it have.. thanks.

I have downloaded what I assume is the latest version of edit.js from:

http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/download.cgi

and although there is an "ed_charmap" button in the images, there does not seem to be a way to activate it on the menu settings? Is the plugin available somewhere else and, if so, where?

Thanks.

editor.js is HTMLArea 2

There is a thread about this at

http://www.htmlarea.com/forum/htmlArea_3_(beta)_C4/gforum.cgi?post=31443;search_string=character%20map;t=search_engine#31443

and a user uploaded a really great plugin for this. It was tarred and gunzipped though, so it might be hard for some people to uncompress it. Windows zip utilities only produce an empty folder when they try to uncompress the file, so I made a zip version to attach.
