problems when I submit htmlarea

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

problems when I submit htmlarea Can't Post

When I submit a form with text in the htmlarea, it pass in the function and submit to the database, even if a blank information.
My function is:

<script language="javascript">
function confirma()
{
d = document.noticia;
if (d.dsmanchete.value == '')
{
alert('Informe o título da Notícia (Manchete)!')
d.dsmanchete.focus();
return false;
}
if (d.valid.value == '')
{
alert('Informe a data de validade da Notícia!');
d.valid.focus();
return false;
}
return true;
}
</script>

When I submit the form, the function actived, and verify the blanks, and it didn't need submit if one of those blank isn't correct, but it submit.

What's the problem? Can anyone help me?

Thanks...

Re: [nane] problems when I submit htmlarea [In reply to] Can't Post

this may cause by unknown javascript objects, i usually found it at "unknown el.tagName ...."

and then i try to submit the form using javascript,

function confirma(){
d=document.noticia;
if (d.dsmanchete.value=='') {
.......
return false;
}
......
} else d.submit();
}

instead of using "return true" at "else"

also change your submit button type to type='button' and add onClick="confirma" and remove onSubmit on the form tag

i hope it works with you...
