Strange Characters Appearing

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

Strange Characters Appearing Can't Post

I have spent the past week finding strange characters in the content that was created by HTMLArea 3. I'm struggling to find a pattern and struggling to find a solution.

Does anyone know why the following characters are appearing:

 ⠀ “

Any idea of what can be done to stop this from happening ?

Hi

I have tried adding that tag and I have not been able to resolve the issue. I am constantly getting  and ? throughout the page.

I've found the SpellChecker plugin is responsible for some funny characters entering the scene. Haven't looked at the problem much, yet, but I know that at least having double spaces in content being Checked brings in A's with umlauts (I think).

Also, strange (or just unboring) markup screws things around with the SpellChecker =/ In any case, I'll post patches if and when I ever fix any of that, but won't have time to start looking until next week.

I always remove/disable the spell check plug in. Spaces seem to be the issue but am not sure the work around.
