"htmlmode" button bug

The htmlArea 2 & 3 editors have been discontinued.

We've made these forums available as a read-only reference and knowledge-base for people using or developing editors based on htmlArea 2 or 3.

Anyone who is interested in taking over version 2 or 3 is free to do so. All we ask is that you choose a new name that doesn't have "htmlarea" in it to avoid confusion with this site. We'll even give you a link in the directory to make it easier for people to find you. If you are developing or hosting an htmlArea based-editor under a new name, please submit it to our directory.

"htmlmode" button bug Can't Post

Hi!
When I change the editor mode from WYSISWYG to html code and back the "Path:" thingie on the bottom of editor stops working. It says "Path:Path:" and so on and it does not change when you click on another element in the textarea.
I'm using IE 6.0 sp 1 Win XP.

In HTMLArea.js (cvs v1.74), comment out line 848 and Bob's your uncle.

This is an old bug that seemingly will never be fixed. I've already complained about it, but it persists.

I guess you are referring to the bold line here :

Code
 if (this.config.statusBar) {
this._statusBar.innerHTML = '';
this._statusBar.appendChild(document.createTextNode(HTMLArea.I18N.msg["Path"] + ": "));
this._statusBar.appendChild(this._statusBarTree);
}

Re: [ytztech] "htmlmode" button bug [In reply to] Can't Post

I had to modify the setMode function temporarily while finding a solution.

Look like setting the innerHTML variable causes the status bar to be updated automagically.

How is this happening? I'm getting a JS error on setting it and am trying to troubleshoot the

problem. The doError call is something I added to through the debug statement to another

output form.

I'm trying to implement HTMLArea as the default editor for an opensource called TWiki.

switch (mode) {
case "textmode":
this._textArea.value = this.getHTML();
this._iframe.style.display = "none";
this._textArea.style.display = "block";
doError("743 setMode mode:"+mode, "alert");
if (this.config.statusBar) {
doError("745 setMode mode:"+mode+" skipping assignment to innerHTML", "brief");
// cws: 5/27/04 Commented following line out as look like
// cause of JS error. Setting this variable is causing JS errors.
// this._statusBar.innerHTML = HTMLArea.I18N.msg["TEXT_MODE"];
doError("747 setMode mode:"+mode, "alert");
}
doError("749 setMode mode:"+mode, "alert");
break;
